Q. How do you deal with your stress before a competition?
A. “To deal with my stress, I think about all the preparation I did before the competition and I think I couldn’t have done more.”
Q. Do you have a ritual before a competition?
A. “I always wear the nose clip that I wore during the warm-up during competition.”
Q. How do you react to victory and defeat?
A. “Losing isn’t always easy to accept and live with, but it allows me to learn from my mistakes and become an even stronger athlete.”
Q. How would you describe your year with your early arrival on the national team and then your confirmation on the Olympic team?
A. “I have to say that this year was not a year like any other. When I joined the Full-Time Olympic Training Group in September, I never imagined qualifying on the Olympic team that would fly to the Games in Tokyo. Little by little I started to believe that it was possible and I really worked hard to achieve this goal. I managed to improve my height and worked a lot on my timing and angles to be the same as the team. The more time went on, the more I was able to fit in. In just nine months, I have started training full time at INS Québec, got to know my new teammates and managed to secure my seat on the plane to Tokyo. This is really amazing! ” [Laugher]
Q. Was there a specific time in your life when you thought your dream of going to the Olympics could come true?
A. “There isn’t really a specific time. It’s been my dream ever since I was little to go to the Olympics, it’s amazing that it is ”already” happening . When I joined the team, I got a boost of motivation. I worked hard before, but now I wanted to work even more because I saw that it was possible to go to Tokyo.”
Q. How did you react when you heard you were offically qualified for Tokyo?
A. “When I heard the news, I was very excited. One of my biggest dreams had just come true. The first person I told the news was my mom who has supported and encouraged me for many years in this sport.”
Q. What excites you the most about your sport?
A. “What I love most about artistic swimming is the fact that it’s a team sport where we all have to be there at the same time and perform the movements in sync to perform well.”
Q. Is there a quote that inspires and motivates you?
A. “Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” – Winston Churchill
