DR. GABRIELLE OSTIGUY WILL SUCEED DR.SUZANNE LECLERC AS INS QUÉBEC’S CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER AS OF APRIL 1, 2025
The Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) today announced an important transition in its medical team. Dr. Suzanne Leclerc, Chief Medical Officer and Director of Sports Medicine Services will be leaving her position on March 31, 2025. Until her departure, she will continue to lead the Sports Medicine Services, working closely with Dr. Gabrielle Ostiguy, who will be taking the role of Chief Medical Officer on April 1, 2025.
Dr. Leclerc’s announced departure provided INS Québec with the opportunity to reevaluate its organizational structure in order to better meet the growing needs of its services. The roles of Chief Medical Officer and Director of Sports Medicine Services will therefore be divided as of April 1, 2025. Information on the structure of the sports medicine management function will be provided at a later date.
“I’m extremely proud of how far we’ve come at INS Québec and of what we’ve achieved together, thanks to an exceptional medical team made up of people who are professional, rigorous and passionate. I’m delighted that Dr. Gabrielle Ostiguy will be assuming the position, whose talent and commitment will ensure the continuity of our sports medicine services. I wish her every success in her new role, and I’m convinced that INS Québec will continue to evolve in the right direction,” says Dr. Suzanne Leclerc.
Dr. Leclerc’s career is marked by an invaluable contribution to concussion research, as well as by an unwavering commitment to athletes. Dr. Leclerc played a central role in the creation and development of the INS Québec medical clinic, a unique asset within the Canadian sports system. She joined INS Québec in 2011 and will continue in her current role until the end of her mandate, ensuring a smooth transition with Dr. Ostiguy.
Dr. Gabrielle Ostiguy, who has been a member of the Institut’s medical team since 2016, is enthusiastic about this new challenge: “It’s a privilege for me to succeed Dr. Suzanne Leclerc, whose contribution to sports medicine is tremendous. I’m thrilled to continue this work alongside the medical team that I know so well and in whom I have total confidence. Having had the opportunity to work with Dr. Leclerc over the past few years has been a real privilege, and I can’t wait to build on the momentum.”
“We are extremely grateful to Dr. Suzanne Leclerc for her commitment and outstanding contribution to the evolution of sports medicine at INS Québec. We are fortunate that this transition is being handled by such a skilled professional as Dr. Gabrielle Ostiguy, which ensures continuity in our sports medicine services. This reorganization will enable us to maintain a high level of service that meets the expectations of our high-performance athletes,” says Roger Archambault, Vice President of Performance Services at INS Québec.
