THE PARA-SWIMMING NATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE MOVES TO INS QUÉBEC

Montréal, December 2, 2019 — The national para-swimming team program is set to expand in Montréal with Swimming Canada naming the Institut national du sport du Québec (INS Québec) as the new home of its national training centre. By taking advantage of the facilities at the INS Québec complex and the pools in the Olympic Park Sports Centre, the group of para-swimmers can count on an integrated support team made up of experts from the institute, who will provide them with sports medicine, scientific and personal development services.

“I am excited to continue working closely with the INS Québec and the incredible team of experts who are always seeking high performance outcomes, said Wayne Lomas, associate director of high performance and para-swimming national coach at Swimming Canada Natation. INS Québec offers world-class staff, infrastructure and technology to help our very best swimmers and coaches develop their skills and pursue their dreams. The INS Québec and our own High Performance Centre-Québec program share a common goal of seeking high performance outcomes through developing the best in people. It’s a natural fit for us to bring swimmers, coaches and Integrated Support Team (IST) experts from across the nation to INS Québec for key team activities so that we can ensure the continuity of service and high performance culture that are hallmarks of the INS Québec.”

“The Canadian para-swimming program has grown dramatically over the past few years and we are so excited to increase our collaboration with Swimming Canada, the elite para-swimmers and the coaching group,” said Roger Archambault, INS Québec’s Vice-President, Performance Services. “With Tokyo 2020 just around the corner, our experts are all set to offer them a level of support that matches the dedication of the athletes and the quality of the para-swimming program.”
